AWARE Services

AWARE provides a variety of prevention and intervention services for women and children impacted by domestic violence and/or sexual assault, as well as to raise community awareness regarding these issues.  All advocacy services are confidential and free of charge.

Emergency Shelter

AWARE provides safe shelter to women and children who have had to leave home or relocate due to domestic violence, sexual assault and/or child abuse.  If you need emergency shelter, please call 586-1090 to speak with an advocate.

Crisis Intervention

Trained AWARE advocates answer a 24-hour crisis line (586-1090 in Juneau, 1-800-478-1090 toll-free in Alaska) for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.  We are also available on-call to accompany women during sexual assault forensic exams and other medical emergencies.

Advocacy

AWARE advocates have been trained to respond to domestic violence and sexual assault emergencies to provide support and information.  To find out more about what an advocate does, check out our What is an Advocate? webpage.

Community Education

AWARE offers educational presentations to local school and community agencies.  Please call AWARE at 586-6623 to request a presentation at your school or agency.  An AWARE advocate can present on domestic violence, sexual assault, AWARE services, safe/unsafe touch, and/or other related topics.  We will adjust our presentation to fit the audience (children, teens or adults).

Legal Advocacy

AWARE's advocates are not lawyers, but we can assist you in filing for a protective order.  We can also point you to useful information about child custody information.  Please click here for more information about our legal advocacy, as well as for links to other legal resources.
