Rural Outreach
If you are in the community of
Elfin Cove, Gustavus,
Haines, Hoonah, Klukwan, Pelican, Skagway, Tenakee Springs or Yakutat, AWARE
advocates can provide the following intervention and prevention services:
- Crisis Intervention

AWARE advocates are always available by
phone at 1-800-478-1090. In addition, AWARE's rural outreach advocate is available
for personal meetings when she is in your community.
- Emergency Shelter
-
AWARE provides safe shelter to women and
children who have had to leave home or relocate due to domestic violence
and/or sexual assault. AWARE can arrange for you to come to the
shelter in Juneau, or to stay for a few days in a confidential safe home in
your community. Please call 1-800-478-1090 if you are interested in
safe shelter.
- Rural Education and Training Programs

AWARE's rural outreach advocate can
provide trainings for health care providers, law enforcement, and/or
educators on domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse and neglect.
In addition, she can provide training for school children in the areas of
safe/unsafe touch, bullying, sexual abuse, domestic violence, dating
violence, and/or sexual harassment. Please call 1-800-478-1090 (or

to speak with AWARE's rural outreach advocate if you are interested in any
of these education and training programs.
