Juneau Batterer Accountability Program (JBAP)

The Juneau Batterer Accountability Program (JBAP) is certified by the State of Alaska Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault as a state-approved batterer intervention program.

JBAP is committed to:

  • Eliminating violence against women and children.

  • Providing safety for victims.

  • Teaching alternatives to violence.

  • Holding offenders accountable for family violence.

JBAP is a 48-session program for male perpetrators of domestic violence.  The program challenges participant's values and beliefs that reinforce the use of power and control in relationships.  Topics integrated into the curriculum include:

  • Power and control:  Challenging the underlying issues of power and control in domestic violence relationships

  • Empathy and compassion:  Learning to understand the victim's point of view.

  • Communication skills:  Developing effective communication patterns that facilitate equality in relationships.

  • Anger relapse prevention:  Changing patterns of anger used to maintain control over another person, and which lead to acts of violence.

  • Stress management and self-esteem:  Identifying and using healthy skills to prevent relapses into violence.

For more information about JBAP, including fees, please call 523-4942.
