Rural Outreach
AWARE Advocates can also provide intervention and prevention services to you if you live in the communities of Elfin Cove, Gustavus, Haines, Hoonah, Klukwan, Pelican, Skagway, Tenakee Springs or Yakutat.
AWARE Rural Outreach Services Include:
- Crisis Intervention
AWARE advocates are always available by phone at 1-800-478-1090. In addition, AWARE's rural outreach advocate is available for personal meetings when she is in your community.
- Emergency Shelter
AWARE provides safe shelter to women and children who have had to leave home or relocate due to domestic violence and/or sexual assault. AWARE can arrange for you to come to the shelter in Juneau, or to stay for a few days in a confidential safe home in your community. Please call 1-800-478-1090 if you are interested in safe shelter.
- Rural Education & Training Programs
AWARE's rural outreach advocate can provide trainings for health care providers, law enforcement, and/or educators on domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse and neglect. In addition, she can provide training for school children in the areas of safe/unsafe touch, bullying, sexual abuse, domestic violence, dating violence, and/or sexual harassment.
